Note:  There are some bargains to be had in the current property market here in Catalunya during this recession, if you don’t see the price range you seek, when you look at the houses showcased here, don’t worry, all the agents have houses to suit every pocket.

The Costa Brava is not as cheap as Southern Spain and there is good reason for this. Catalonia is a wealthy, and productive area. When you see the green lush landscape, you would be forgiven to think you were possibly in Italy, or France not Spain.

You may have seen programmes on TV about terrible problems in the Spanish property market, where people lose their homes in one or another horrific story, to my knowledge this does not happen here. The Catalan legal system is far more rigid and in all my years of living here, I have never once heard of a case like this.

If you are from Russia or you speak Russian, and you need a translator, please let me know, I work with a lovely local lady, who will come with us and translate on your behalf.

Although I can take no responsibility with regard to your relationship with each agent, or the outcome I can say that the people I recommend have been good with me, their commissions vary and their styles, they are various nationalities, but all accredited, which is a legal requirement now and all speak good English. I do have other contacts not mentioned here.

You may have seen programs like ‘Relocation, Relocation, Relocation’, Our ‘One 2 One’ service is similar.  If you choose to use my services I will work on your behalf to filter down a number of properties from the criteria you give me, and then call you when we have the best properties to show you, making it worth your while to travel over to Spain and view. In the past this service didn’t exist and many people including myself, wasted precious days looking at the wrong locations and unsuitable houses. This way you don’t stay with one agent, I will visit all the properties on your behalf. Commisions on house sales do vary, agents here do a great deal of work for overseas clients, most agents are quite happy to discuss this with you. Generally one will pay more than the UK, but these charges can be more on a par to real estate companies in other Europeon countries.

A few Great Agents

As we all know in every country, agents vary, over a period of time I have admired the ethos of certain agents. So let me give you a few examples.

Gabriella and Elba:- Gabriella is an agent based in the central Costa Brava, but deals with houses in other areas and inland, she is German and her associate Elba is Catalan, they are really helpful and they know the business well. They have some really interesting property on their books, varying in price, with something for everybody.

I have known Gabriella a long time and I feel very confident that she and Elba will go that extra mile. They really care about their clients and the owners they represents. They speak English, German, French, Catalan and Spanish.

Gabriella can also provide help to take care of your house after you purchase, her husband Norbert will look after your pool and garden, this is very useful if you intend to rent your peoperty out, of course help inside the house is also available.

Diane:- Situated further North in the Roses area, Diane is an English agent, I’ve worked with her before and she is popular with clients and property owners alike. she covers Roses, Empuriabrava, Santa Margarida, Llança and then inland from the French border to Girona for all types of rustic properties and beautiful masias. Diane speaks English, French, Spanish and Catalan.

Erwin:- I met Erwin when doing business in Lloret de Mar. Erwin is Russian but speaks perfect English. If you are of Russian origin or prefer Russian to English you may find this useful. He has a good cross section of properties, from the perfect investment property to homes at the higher end, He is a very pleasant and helpful agent.  Llorett is worth looking at if you wish to attract British hoiday makers, it even boast and English food shop. The sea front is attracive and it’s tha bit closer to Barcelona. If you wish to marketyour home to the Russian market even outside Llorett, Erwin will be pleased to talk with you.
